Moving home can be the most stressful time of your life, so you need to take some precautions which will make the transition as smooth as possible. Making sure that all of your furniture is protected when you move house, will help to keep all of the stress levels from building up.
Whether you do this yourself, or use the services of another company, there are things that you can do to protect the safeguard of your possessions.
Making sure that you come up with a good plan is important to make sure that the transition to your new home goes as smoothly as possible. If you can, you should get all of the packing materials that you need, well in advance.
- Moving Boxes
- Packing Material
- Marker Pens
If you have an established date for moving, then plan in advance of that day, and get things as sorted out as possible. You can easily pack up all of the things that you are not going to use between now, and the date of moving, in advance, which gives you fewer things to do on the actual day.
- Out of Season Clothes
- Toys, Games & DVD’s
- Lawn Furniture and Accessories
- Unused Furniture
By getting as much as you can, packed up in moving boxes before the day of the move, you can save yourself a lot of time and hassle.
The first place that you should start in should be the room with the most things to pack. Systematically work your way through the room, making sure that you pack the heaviest items in the bottom of the box, not over packing it, and sealing it properly. It is very important that you do not make the box too heavy, remember that you have to pick this up, and you do not want the bottom of the box falling out. Also make sure that you use a marker pen, to write on the side of the box the room that the contents came from, and also a brief description of the items. This will make sure that you save a lot of time and effort, when unpacking the boxes in your final destination.
When you are packing heavier things like furniture, you should make sure that you invest in extra boxes, or even specifically made lounge covers for moving houses. You will be able to search online and find companies that provide all of the accessories needed to move, or you can even utilize moving boxes to protect your furniture during transit. For heavier things such as your couch, wardrobe, or even bed, try ripping lengths of cardboard and taping these to the hard corners of the furniture. By doing this, you will help make sure that they do not get damaged in transit, and there is less hassle when unpacking at the other end. If you are wrapping delicate items such as glassware or crockery, make sure that you wrap these well in plenty of protection so that they do not get damaged when moving. If you take your time when packing, and do a bit of planning, you can help insure that your move goes with as few as problems as possible, and all of your possessions get there in one piece.
